Early Life and Modest Beginnings
Marta Vacondio grew up in a humble working-class family in Reggio Emilia. Her father was a railway worker, and her mother was a seamstress, instilling in Marta an early appreciation for hard work and creativity.
Her family was so poor that for the first two years of her life, Marta was raised by the nuns of the village of Albinea (near Reggio Emilia).
Marta attended local public schools in Reggio Emilia, though her formal education ended early due to her family’s economic situation. She left school after completing basic studies to begin working and contributing to the household income.
