Born Britt-Marie Eklund in Stockholm, Sweden, she rose from a quiet Scandinavian childhood to become one of the most recognizable faces of the 1960s and 70s.

Early Days in Sweden
Britt Ekland was born Britt-Marie Eklund on October 6th, 1942, in Stockholm, Sweden, to Sven Eklund, a sports retailer and later chairman of the Swedish Bowls Association, and Maj Britt, a secretary.
Growing up in Stockholm, Britt was the eldest of four children.
As a child, Britt struggled with respiratory problems, which often kept her indoors and away from other children. This time at home fueled her imagination and her love for movies and radio dramas, inspiring dreams of an acting career.
